This is the style that took over in the mid- to late-1980s; davit-style poles were now out, and for the first time the arm connected to the pole at a right angle. Signals were positioned completely below the arm, first by a two-point mount, and eventually by a single-point mount, as shown here (inline 5s always used a 2-point mount however). This is also when the auxiliary signal on the left pole became a standard, and bi-modal fibre-optic arrows began to be used as well.
