In my opinion this style is the most aesthetically pleasing appearance for a traffic light. Davit-style poles were still used but were now brown. Signal heads were still centred vertically on the mast arm, and the oversized backplates from the previous style have been reduced to a more normal size. As well, pedestrian signals now used symbols as opposed to text. The vast majority of style 3 signals were 12 inches.
