Drammen Photos

15 DEC 1909 — 19 JUN 1967

Note: Drammen was the last system to use a single pole with two shoes operation. It last for an amazing length of time. The wires were 12 inches apart. Because of this narrow width, special work was not feasible. There were three routes, arranged so that a given trolley would cover all three routes which converged in downtown Drammen. Obviously, all three routes had the same headway. The trolleys were towed into and out of the garage for service.

Essen1 Somehow, part of this picture was cropped off. This photo does show the single pole and double shoes and wire for the Drammen trolleybus system. Photographer unknown and date unknown (probably the 50s or 60s).
