The hospital |

All treatment and meals are free so the hospital attracts the 'poorest of the poor' (as defined by the UN). However, patients may have to buy drugs and tests that are not available at the hospital. HIV treatment is not provided.
It is important for Seeds of Hope to dissolve some of the myths which prevent people seeking help. Hospitals are often regarded with suspicion in Guatemala and many people are reluctant to come for treatment, believing they will not leave alive. Literacy and languages barriers can further this problem. |
