Welcome back to school year 2006-07.
You can more about me as a teacher by referring to my
@Resume
page. As you can see I have listed course objectives on our class web
pages. I also have an "@Agenda"
page that spells out lessons content week by week. The page outlines work
that we're covering, handy web pages for reference and extra research and also
links, whenever possible,
@Documents
that students can download [from my own Shaw web provider] to keep up to course
notes and materials. To begin with you could help your child prepare for
the first spelling test coming this Friday by going to
@Documents
and downloading the Spelling Test for yourself -
[right click - save target as is probably the quickest way to get the file]
All these notes will be saved on this page. |

- Students need to make
@Agenda
Book entries every day. On day one we reviewed the sections of
the book and explained how to use it. [rules, special dates, religious
stories, book reading log, resources at the back of the book.] Students
should use the Agenda Book to take down details of assignments as no
assignment ever comes without a lot of detailed explanation and directions.
- I also introduced the class to our
@Class Web Page
and how to use it to keep track of curriculum and to keep updated. In
particular we reviewed the @Daily
Agenda Page and pointed out that it's a great way to keep track of
the school year. It would be really helpful if parents would initial
or sign the agenda book to keep in contact. You as a parent of course
have the right to limit the amount of time you want your child to work on
homework. I always give class time for new assignments and many
students are able to get most of the major work done in class work time. @Agenda
items that don't appear in @Homework
are class work projects with longer deadlines. Students of course
are allowed to do extra work on these at home if they wish or are able.
- I do expect students to take initiative in following our
program. They have full access to computers in class and in the
computer lab and can easily check homework, weekly agenda and teacher's
notes to keep posted.

- Students received a newsletter today - Thursday,
September 7, 2006
- I've signed up for a
@Gigasize
account - if you wish you can download our @Gilgamesh
power point to your own computer [right click, save target as"]
- I'd like students to be accountable for
all tests that they write - I've asked them to get parents to sign all
student tests
and help me to get their children to make corrections as well. Students are to
keep all tests in a duo-tang for reference and further study. Thanks
for your support.
- Students can purchase computer earphones for $2.00 from
the office - theirs to keep!
- PS - I always give students a lot
of class time to get assignments done in class - if homework seems to be
piling up for your child, we'll have to look at either their use of class
work time or the rate at which they work in class.
- Students are to read one book a week and
record the book title and author in their agenda books, complete with your
approving signature. [first school week was free]

- When we work in the computer lab with Power Points which
cover important course content - i.e. - the Trees and Forests power point or
the French Conversation power point, students not only view and study these
in class but they also download them into their own "My Documents" folder
for personal study, editing and reworking - at the end of the year we give
students a CD with all their computer projects for the year as a record of
their work.
- Students received a picture pack brochure
