City Park Toy Library - $40 for a year's membership, and you can sign out 3 toys for 2 weeks. 100% of the membership fee goes to buying more toys. Eventually the plan is to have membership free or at a very nominal cost. There's also an area where kids can play, read, or do crafts. We're looking forward to another place we can play during the winter months. The library is located in City Park Collegiate and is open Mondays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

Movies for Mommies Private screening for parents at the Rainbow Cinemas on Thursdays at 1:00p.m. Cost: $6.00. Access to bottle warmer, change table and free wipes. If your kid cries or makes a scene, it's not a big deal as all the kids there will do that at some point. Moms can feel free to openly breast feed in the theatre. Toons for Toddlers You asked us for programming for you toddlers, and we've answered! Once a month at all MFM locations we'll be screening a toddler program on the big screen. The actual screening time will be just under 60 minutes. We'll have dim lighting on, and reduced sound. Some fun giveaway stuff for your little ones too. KindermusikAges birth to 7 years old. I have been involved with this program for many years. The kids get to sing, dance, play with instruments, and meet other kids their own age. It's a lot of fun and great social environment for your child. Spring session starts on Jan. 22nd, so register early! The classes fill up quickly!

Beaver Creek Conservation Area - Open Mon-Fri 9-5, Weekends & holidays noon-5. Free admission. Located 13 km south on highway #219 (follow Lorne Ave. straight out of the city until you see a sign leading to the park entrance.) Great place to walk, stroll, picnic. There is an interpretive centre with hands on activities for the kids (or the kid in you!)

Visit a greenhouse.
Visit a pet store. Kids of all ages love this!
Visit Indigo Books. Grab a coffee at Starbucks in the store then sit in the kids area while the little ones play.
Visit a playground in a different neighborhood.
Visit the Geology Building to check out the animals and dinosaur bones at the U of S.
Visit the Meewasin Valley Authority and participate in the interactive displays.
Take a walk by the river (you can often see wildlife near the weir.)
Market Mall has a children's area near the food court with a small playground in it.
Children under 12 months are admitted free when accompanied by an adult at the Fun Factory.
Visit a paddling or spray pool on a hot day. Some locations have structured events such as craft making or organized games. Contact your local centre to find out programming details.
Take a walk: A couple of places I like to go are the zoo, Silverspring park, the river valley. If you go to the back of Silverspring park you can walk along the Elk pen from the Forestry farm.
The "Forestry Farm Park and Zoo" is free in the winter (Oct. 16th-Apr. 14th, 10-4p.m.)
Drape a tablecloth over two chairs and play "fort".
Decorate cookies together. (my child was doing this before she turned 1!)
Visit the library and play in the kids area before going home. Check out the FREE programs at the library. Lots of good ones to chose from!
