Some thoughts concerning safety at the Saskatoon Sailing Club:
- The site is situated in a relatively isolated location and there is
very little traffic on or around the lake. If you are sailing there
by yourself, consider letting someone know where you are and when you
plan to be back. Due to the surrounding hills cell phone coverage is
very limited.
- Please tie down your boat securely while it is parked on the beach.
Like any spot on the prairies, squalls and thunderstorms can sweep down
on the area with alarming speed. We have had numerous incidents of boats
cartwheeling down the beach.
|
- Sail or race in conditions with which you are comfortable. Redberry
Lake can provide some very exciting heavy air sailing, but be sure to
know your skill level and assess the situation before you head out in
the big wind.
- Please wear your PFD at all times while on the water!
