This wayside stockyard near Lorraine Valley on the Lorraine Valley & James River Railway was made from an Atlas #777 HO scale Rustic Fence & Gate kit.  The pole over the gate and the longer legs of the loading ramps were made from scrap sprue from another kit.  More rustic fence was used around the farm yard in the background.  The fences were painted with Testor's flat Arctic White and weathered lightly with Arctic White mixed with a bit of flat Military Brown.  The animals painted with flat paint, the "boss" and the "cowboy" talking over the fence, the "loafer" leaning idly against the shack, the shack itself, the garbage pail, and even the wall phone covered with a wooden box all add to the realism of the scene.  The hay/straw or whatever in the yard is sieved sawdust selected for colour while the grass outside is stippled and painted plaster of Paris.
