Welcome to Sandalwood Martial Arts. We offer the Greater Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, communities an affordable I.T.F. Style Taekwon-Do program in a safe, supportive and family oriented environment. We are dedicated to providing a quality Taekwon-Do program that emphasizes traditional Taekwon-Do work ethics, standards and discipline. We are a club, not a commercial school, and we do not require term contracts. Sandalwood Martial Arts is registered with the Unified International Taekwon-Do Federation, which is operated by Grandmaster Hwang from headquarters in Manchester, Connecticut, U.S.A. Sandalwood is also pleased to be a member of the BC Taekwondo Association. The inspiration for choosing Sandalwood as our name partly stems from an article entitled Sandalwood The Sacred Tree, in which Christopher McMahon wrote: “There is little externally that calls one to notice the sandalwood tree as a specimen containing the prized aromatic heartwood whose virtues have been sung for several thousand years.” The sandalwood tree’s exterior does little to betray its magnificent, and prized inner fragrance; thus, it is an appropriate metaphor for true martial artists who, despite possessing unusual inner strengths and skills, do not betray them by explicit or gratuitous displays. Courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit are the tenets of Taekwon-Do and they are the core values that Sandalwood Martial Arts helps its students cultivate. Sandalwood Martial Arts invites you to join our program and to undertake a voyage of self-discovery. We are committed to assisting you on every step of your journey.
