Eric glanced at the clock on the nightstand.
It was seven thirty in the evening
and he saw that it was starting to get dark.
He knew his mom would be busy at her
computer and not even come and check on
him until bedtime. It seemed like, to him at
least, that most nights he was already asleep
by the time she finally came to check on him.
Mom always read a book to Megan at bedtime,
but Eric was lucky to get a goodnight hug most of the time.
He stood up and walked up to the window.
There was a slight breeze and the tree outside
was tapping against the glass making a small scraping noise.
He didn’t like how it sounded and he quickly closed his
blinds and turned back around. He thought about how
awesome it had been to see his dream video system.
It was so much better than the older version he had now.
The system he had now didn’t even have 3-D.
Seven thirty two.
“If I hurry, I can still get to the mall before it closes
at nine,” Eric said quietly to himself.
