A Definition of Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a literacy disability,--an inability to get information from print. Most dyslexics are of average intelligence, but carelessness and multiple confusions severely handicap their ability to read. Individuals who cannot read are limited to learning from what they hear; they cannot process print. This can undermine their education and future career. It is extremely damaging to their self-esteem and negatively affects their self-image. It acts as a damper to their enjoyment of life.
