My
Vancouver
It
was early in the springtime
The
snow had left the ground
When
I landed in Vancouver,
My
new home I had found. . .
The
morning mist caressed the dawn
of
a new day just begun
And
the seagulls played their favorite game
of
hide and go seek with the sun. . .
Two
Lions stood on a north shore ridge
Guarding
English Bay
So
I kissed the bloom of the Dogwood Tree
for
I knew I was here to stay. . .
I
could see the white caps breaking
Beating
time upon the shore
Telling
tales of many ship wrecks
That
for me there'd be in store. . .
And
the silence of the moonlight
Casting
shadows in the sand
Broken
only by my heartbeat
Like
the bass drum in a band. . .
Raindrops
on a rosebud
Glistened
like a tear
And
a love for me was blooming
in
the summer of that year. . .
Well
I've chased a million rainbows
And
I've crossed a thousand streams
But
my heart is in Vancouver
The
City of my dreams. . .
There
is magic in the mountains
There
is laughter in the sea
Vancouver,
Oh Vancouver
I
am coming home to thee.
