Doggy Treat Recipes

Pup Cookies

Combine the Following:
1 cup hot water (I like to use hot chicken or beef broth)
1 cup dry powdered milk
2 tsp. bouillon

Add the following to the bouillon mixture:
3/4 cup oil
2 eggs
2 tbsp. brown sugar
5 cups whole wheat flour

Stir to form a very stiff dough. Roll out and cut into shapes.
Cover a cookie sheet with foil and place cookies on it.
Bake at 300 degrees for 40 minutes, turning cookies over after 20 minutes.

Liver Brownies

Using a food processor, puree the following for 4 minutes:
1-1/2 cups wheat germ
1 lb. liver
1-1/2 cups corn meal
3-4 eggs
2-3 cloves minced garlic

Place in well greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. If any dogs are on a special diet, use their canned food, add flour and garlic, mix and bake the same as above.  Mix it with potato flour, add garlic powder and bake in a cake roll pan for 20 - 30 minutes at 350 degrees.  Cut into bite size squares for treats.

Boston Terrier Coolers

2 fresh beef (or other species) marrow bones

In a 2 qt. pan, add the bones and add enough water to cover the bones.  Bring water to a boil; continue to boil for at least 10 min.  (More time is OK, for a richer broth)

Remove bones, and return any beef marrow to the liquid, along with any meat that you can  get off the bones.

Cool the broth to room temperature.  Pour liquid only into 2 - 4 ice cube trays.

Chop up the marrow/meat/gristle into little bits, and put them into each section of the tray.  Freeze Solid.

Serve 2 - 3 cubes to your Boston on a very hot day.  (Not too many if you made the broth very rich with extra bones or lots of marrow)

Boston Terrier Peanut Butter Cookies

2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon Beef or chicken OXO

Combine flour wheat germ and OXO in large bowl then mix in peanut butter, egg, oil and water.

Roll dough out onto a lightly floured surface 1/2 inch thick.  Cut out the biscuits using a cookie cutter -- use a dog bone cutter but any neat cutter will do (or make squares).

Place the biscuits on an un-greased baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes for the smaller sized cookies and up to 35 minutes for larger shaped ones.

Store in the fridge ...if they last that long!

Boston Terrier Kisses

Liver, beef, chicken or pork
2 diced, fresh garlic cloves
1 1/2 cups water

Place liver, water and garlic in a medium size pot on the stove and simmer for about 45 minutes. Drain juice from pot.  (Save this juice for mixing with Kibble as they love it!)

Dice the liver into bite-size pieces and place on paper towel on a plate.

Microwave for approximately 10 min. (Times will vary with different microwaves, but ours is a powerful one and these times work well on "high" temperature)

Store in airtight container in fridge.

Dog Treats

1/2 cup corn meal
6 Tbsp. Oil
2/3 cup water or meat broth
2 cups whole wheat flour

Mix ingredients well.  Roll out to 1/4" thick.  Cut into shapes with cutter.
Baste with meat drippings
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 min.
