Dax finishes his Canadian Championship in style with a BEST OF BREED in March 2007!

Dax has been a little bit of a surprise for us from our 'Harry Potter' litter because he was sold as a pet, and by all accounts, he is the much adored 'only son' of the Csanyi family, but he has also turned out to be a beautiful dog in the making.  He reminds both myself and Daddy 'Caemon's' owner, Traci, of Caemon as a puppy.

Dax's Best of Breed and Championship Pic!

He is also a very big boy.  Apparently very accurately named after the gentle Half Giant from the Harry Potter Series, Hagrid, at almost 24 months old, Dax is a lean 120lbs!

Dax was shown at the West Coast Landesgruppe Sieger show in Langley, BC in October 2005 in the 4-6 month males class and received a VP-2 rating under judge Bill Alexander of the US.

Judge Bill Alexander

4-6 Months Males VP-2 Rating

5 1/2 month old, tall with good bone strength, bone is medium large, wide forehead, ears set wide and could be carried closer to cheek, broad muzzle, stop could be better defined.

Medium brown eye, slightly loose flew, chest is broad and deep, straight front forelegs, strong pasterns, good feet, good top and bottom lines, tucks up slightly, strong well muscled rear, strong sized hock, springy, good croup and tail set, very good colour and markings, scissor bite.

Good movement coming and going, good reach and drive with good ground covering gait

Dax's second sieger show was July 22, 2006 at the age of 16 months in a large competitve class under ADRK Judge Werner Walter from Germany, where he took an SG rating and showed beautifully for his Daddy Mike.

Judge Walter Werner (ADRK)

12-18 Months Males SG-Rating

Tall, strong bone, strong head, dark brown eyes, medium size correct set ears, dark mouth pigmentation, strong neck with slightly loose skin, very good pronounced and developed chest, front right leg is slightly out turning, strong paws, straight back, muscular rear and correct hind angulation, correct coat, red brown markings, scissors bite.

Dax is also CKC pointed earning his first 3 points going Winners Dog and Best of Winners from the Open class at the Working/Herding Show in Red Deer which was also a breed booster, so there were some great prizes for him!  Special thanks to Marina Skoreiko and Michelle Whistlecraft for handling Dax to these points since I had a conflict with Jewel in the obedience ring at the same time!

Dax went on to earn another 2 points at the December 2006 CKOC show going Winners Dog and Best of Winners breeder/handled to this win!  He is now half way to his Canadian Championship!!!

At the AKC show in February 2007, Dax earned another point, sitting him at 6 points towards that CH.!!!  March 2007 at the CKOC show, Dax was shown 2 days and earned his final 4 points to finish his Canadian Championship in style with a BEST OF BREED win.

Dax earned his Herding Instinct Certificate in Chilliwack, BC in May 2007 doing incredibly well, staying focused and getting some excellent remarks from tester and CKC Herding judge, Shelley Fritzke.

Dax completed his health clearances (numbers are above under his name) in April 2007, he is now available at stud to approved bitches of merit.

Wicca was our 'little' keeper from our first litter out of our Jewel.  She was assessed as our working/show prospect - but even the best laid plans go a wry.

Wicca is an absolute joy to live with and is certainly the life of the party.  She initiates almost all of the play, so you know when she is around, watch your kneecaps.  However, Wicca has decided that she has no interest in working and would rather be on the couch than go to a show, so after MONTHS of deliberation, we decided it might be best if we found her a loving pet home where she can just be the REAL Wicca all the time.

So, Wicca was spayed at the beginning of September 2006 and now lives with her new fur-parents, Barb Burgess and Paul Peterson of Calgary.  Just after Wicca's second birthday she completed her final health clearances.  Numbers are above under her name.  Although she is spayed, she became our first fully health tested pup!

Some of the reasons we picked Wicca in the first place is that she proved to be a more substantial bitch than her mother; in bone, girth and just general size.  At 16 months old, she is 88lbs and 24 inches (61cm) tall.  Her structure overall is what we were looking for as well, we are pleased with her dark, dark eye, dark mouth pigment and short back.  She also has a fun-loving temperament to die for!

Some of her accomplishments thus far are as follows:

October 1, 2005, Wicca and Dax went with 'Grandma' Traci to Langley, BC to attend the West Coast Landesgruppe Sieger show.  Wicca was entered in the 4-6 month female class and was awarded a VP-3 rating under US judge Bill Alexander.  Her critique is below:

 Judge Bill Alexander

4-6 Month Females VP-3 Rating

Almost 6 month, large, good bone, large to medium foreskull, good muzzle, stop could be more pronounced, medium dark eye, dark lip pigment, very nice neckline, chest is deep - still developing, straight front legs, good pasterns and good feet, very good top and bottom line with slight tuck underneath, strong well muscled rear, long springy strong hock, very good color and markings, pencil lines on toes, scissors bite.  Crosses lightly front and rear with very good side movement.

Wicca was also along for the ride at a recent herding instinct test in August 2005 and she passed, earning her HIC just before 5 months of age.  She was entered in her second herding instinct test in November 2005 and her performances were like night and day.  She was on FIRE at her second test, not only did she pass again, but she scored higher than her mother, Jewel!  Wicca also earned her CGN title in March of 2006, at 11 months of age!  In July 2006, Wicca also earned her Temperament Test title.

Kash was our green boy in our 'Harry Potter' litter and he just sort of 'popped' at about 7 weeks.  The boys were all so nice in this litter that I think we didn't give him a second look in regards to his conformation until at 6 weeks we just kind of went 'WOW, where did he come from?'

He was a sweet, laid back guy and although he was the smallest puppy at birth, he went home at 9 weeks old at 20.7lbs.  He is co-owned with Dinah Warner of Clairmont, Alberta.  At 2 years old, he now a lean 99lbs!

Kash is now busy with obedience and agility and some herding when it is available WAY up north!!   Dinah is working towards getting him into the novice obedience ring and is already well on his way in his open level of obedience training as well.   Kash has proven to me, and to Dinah, that one of the most laid back puppies in a litter does not necessarily correctly portray what a dog will turn out to be.  He has prey and play drive like his mom;  GO GO GO!  That is his motto.  He bikes, pulls tires and sleds with his little person, Raiden.

Kash earning his CD title in Calgary, August 2007.

He and Dinah attended a weekend herding clinic in Grande Prairie, August 2006.  As you can see from the picture above, Kash is a natural!  AND, November 2006, Kash and Dinah earned their HIC at the first ever Rottweiler Club of Canada herding trial in Grande Prairie, AB!

Kash earned his CD in 3 straight trials here in Calgary at the AKC show in August 2007.   He did it with 3 placements as well, a second, third and fourth place.  Dinah has done an AMAZING job with this boy, we could not be more proud.  I was able to watch him in the ring for his first leg which made it that much more special.  We will  have the picture soon!

We look forward to what the future holds for this working boy.  He is  loved by Dinah, Bob and their 3 boys and  his housemate, Xena!

Parker was the big 'fatty' boy puppy in our 'Harry Potter' litter, however, as we have learned, weights of puppies in a litter when they leave at 8 weeks or so does not always indicate what they will continue to grow like (ie ... see above!!!!).  Parker has turned out beautifully both structurally and in temperament.  He is proving to be a slow maturing boy, and at 15 months old, he is 100lbs.  However, having said that, he is now starting to fill in and looks amazing.

We have shown Parker sparingly since he was a puppy, to get him used to showing, but because he is maturing like his Momma Jewel, he always seems to be up against a BEEFCAKE boy

That said, at 15.5 months old, Parker attended his first sieger show at the 2nd Annual Calgary Sieger show in DeWinton and he was SG Rated under ADRK judge Werner Walter from Germany with a great critique and was handled by his Daddy, Mike.  AND, Mommy Pam handled him to his TT title that same day!

Judge Walter Werner (ADRK)

12-18 Months Males SG-Rating

Tall, medium strong bone, strong head, medium brown eyes, medium sized ears, correct carried and set, black lips, pink gums, strong neck, medium wide chest, straight forearms, strong paws, straight back, strong rear and correct hind angulation, excellent movement, short coat, red brown markings, scissors bite.

Parker recently lost his beautiful lady and housemate named Chanelle to osteosarcoma, but she is with him and Pam and Mike everyday on her angel wings!

Jester's first show weekend, April 2007, he earns his first point going BOW and BPIB!!! Jester earns his PCD January 28, 2007 at the age of 7+ months!!!

Jester was our working pick male puppy out of Jewel's second litter.  He was a very busy little puppy when he was here with us and he really stuck out to me since I LOVE a worky little pup.  He would trip me each and every time he was out in the yard or just wandering the house and he was always the first pup to greet people when they came over to visit.  And this was all before the age of 8 weeks!  Surely I knew from this that he would be destined for big things ....

So, with the guidance of his new owners Bill and Charmian Robb of Regina, Saskatchewan and their 2 other dogs, a senior Rottweiler named Leica CD and a young Belgian Terveren named Bella, Jester is doing wonderful things.

Right is Jester at 9.5 months old.

January 28, 2007, in Regina, Bill and Jester tried their hand at obedience trialling.  Daring to say the least with a young puppy, but with trainers as owners, how could they go wrong?

Jester earning his Pre-Novice Title January 2007 at just shy of 8 months old!

Well, they came away from the weekend with a new obedience title; a Pre-Novice title (PCD).  Jester became Jewel's first obedience titled puppy!  How excited am I???

At the show, Bill and Jester in the ring.

April 13 - 15, 2007, Jester was entered in his very first dog show in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.  Handled by Bill once again, Jester went Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best Puppy in Breed for his first point on Friday and went Best Puppy in Breed on Sunday.

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in May 2007, Jester earns another point towards his championship and 2 Best of Breed wins!

June 8, 2007 at the Regina Kennel and Obedience Club, Jester earns another point towards his Championship going Winners Dog and Best of Opposite sex.  Owner-handled by Bill Robb once again!  He now sits on 3 points!!Way to go guys!

Jester earned his CGN title in August 2007 at the age of 14 months, just like his sister Seeker.

So, this is Tessa.  She was the pink girl in our 'Dream' litter.  My decision was between her and Seeker, and it was just not an easy decision to make.

Tessa calls Burnaby, BC home with her owners, James and Cathleen Pentecost.  They love this little fireball.  They have also found her niche on the schutzhund field working with respected trainer, Pat Brown.

She is actively tracking and training and when she is not doing that, she is swimming like  a little fish.  Tessa is the spitting image of her mother, Jewel.  It is quite remarkable actually.  Of all of her kids, Tessa took on more of her characteristics than all of others, including her play and prey drives.  Go figure!

We are very excited about what her future holds.
