PICKING UP - THE PICK UP!

When we last left off I was not going to be towing my prized possession home, the tow dolly was a no go due to the size of Rusty so CJ decided to drive it up the following week, what a guy!  Personally I thought it was quite risky to attempt driving the old girl over three hours on the highway but he probably knew better than me having had ol' Rusty sit around his yard for over a year may have given him a better sense of the situation than me.  Plus the fact that he drove it 40 miles or so home in the first place!

Anyway, the following weekend came and went with no sign of Rusty, seems the right front caliper decided to seize up and while CJ was trying to repair it he was called into work.  Seems fate would deal this truck another hand, she would NOT be coming to me under her own power after all!  Another plan was soon crafted.  CJ decided to borrow a trailer from his father-in-law and tow the old girl up to me!  He went out and purchased straps to hold her down and then set his plan in motion by calling me up saying looks like he wouldn't be able to get the truck to me until after Thanksgiving.............. "AFTER THANKSGIVING?!?!!?"

I tried to be understanding, I tried to act like I understood and was OK with everything but underneath it all my blood was boiling.  I wanted this truck way before Thanksgiving, I wanted it now!  Turns out it was all just a joke and I was to be surprised with the truck on Thursday when CJ would leave work early and deliver the truck to one shocked and startled me but again, fate would play a hand.

His tow vehicle, a 1976 Ford Supercab Camper Special decided to puke up a starter!  Game over.  Meanwhile I had booked Friday off from work as I planned on getting straight to work on the old girl so when I heard what had happened I decided to go get her myself!  She was already loaded up, strapped down and ready to roll, it was just a matter of getting down there, hooking up the trailer and getting home again without too much trouble from the long weekend travelers.  I decided we had to get an early start so we headed out at 6:00 AM!  The drive there was pretty uneventful and as promised the truck was loaded and waiting.  After a preliminary check, a quick trailer ball change and a short visit we were on our way.  Anyway, here's some shots of old Rusty loaded up!

Finally Home!  I promise she won't die here!

This is the view from my rear view window, imagine staring at THAT for four hours straight!  Ugh!

Now.......... to get that cab done..........
