Tecum$eh Ignition Coil - No spark?
Tecumseh motors have the dubious honour of having some very expensive parts. Two of the being the ignition coil and the alternator coil. I have included the specs from the Tecumseh Mechanic's handbook for the HH motors. By doing dome simple metering, you can determine if any of the electronic modules need replacing.
So, the almighty question, why don't I have any spark?
Here are some handy hints as well from Larry Klein - thanks Larry
You will have to check the air gap on the ignition unit.
This is the big silver thing with the spark plug wire coming out of it. There should be two trigger pins on the side of the fly wheel. One is taller than the other, rotate the fly wheel to directly under the ignition unit with the long pin. The gap should be .06-.10 with a feeler gauge.. If still no spark, check wiring for short out.Mind the wire that runs from under the fly wheel from the charging stator to the ignition unit had the insulation burned off. I had to get a new ignition unit ($100.00) and I covered that bare wire. For more Tecumseh advice go the Tecumseh engine group, post to tekumcman he knows em.
