Review and pictures from Nannette and William Garrett
We're from Washington, North Carolina and drove 4 1/2 hours to see the
show!
We
met Robin, Dave and Davey Tues.night in N.Myrtle Beach,SC after sound check
at House Of Blues. My husband,William Garrett has been a huge fan since
he was 15. He saw Robin live and met him then in 1977.They share the same
birthdate. William had a picture from that show enlarged and Robin signed
it.
We are
expecting twin boys and are naming one Robin. I asked him if he'd ever
had a child named after him by a fan, he said no. He signed our ultrasound,
'Love to Robin, from Robin Trower'.
We spoke
with them for about 15 minutes and after I told Dave I was also a bass
player, he asked when I was due and kissed my hand.
They were
very nice and played an awesome show. My husband, myself, 16 year old daughter,
Julia, and my 69 year old mother-in-law had a wonderful time.

Hey
steve, william here. man it was the rawest sound he's ever had of the 8
times iv'e seen him he has gone back to the old school day's ditching even
the jcm 900's and played through two 50 watt plexi heads with the 4 imputs
and the little metal toggle on off and standby switches. i was in heaven!!!
they could have actually been the heads he used 29 years ago on the in
city dreams tour. back then he had 3 full stacks. this time he had the
2 old style plexi marshalls with the small marshall logos and they were
not re-issues judging from the wear and tear. he ran them through two 4x12
marshall tan colored cabs (the kind you can only get in england!!) he went
from his 3 toned sunburst rt model with a maple board to a fulltone fatboost
a clyde wah a boss tu-2 tuner finally to that magical dejavibe fulltone
then to a whirlwind a/b box then to the 2 heads. he only used the fatboost
for solos and had the heads cranked for that wonderful harmonic sound that
can only come from cranking the master volume up. these heads have no gain
control like the 900's do. it was fucking awsome. i was directley in front
of his amps and almost an arm's length from his pedals which were just
on the floor not on a massive pedalboard like iv'e seen him use in the
70's. he opened with twice removed from yesterday the directly into hannah
from his 1st album but im sure you know that. there were some real suprises
like victims of the fury, road to freedom, ladylove (i almost had an orgasm)
beyond the mist, 20th cntry blues. like i said the sound was incredibly
raw, it was the best time iv'e seen him aside from in 77 with bill, jimmy
and rustee allen on bass. you need to go see him whatever you have to do,
trust me im a trower freak, im naming one of son's after him which he really
seemed flattered. i spoke with him about the 2x12 cab on the dvd and his
fulltone pedals he knew i was a REAL fan and could not have been nicer.
i got him to sign a red tortois shell pickguard off one of my strats with
a silver pen it looks f******g cool as s**t. GO TO THE SHOW!!!!!
