I
have opened up a continuation of my regular site on myspace.
In searching
for information one day I noticed a couple of new sites on Trower on myspace
and wanted to see what they were about. The first one I saw made it seem
that it was actually Robin Trower running the site. Almost all the pictures
used on it were taken off my site. Some were ones that were given to me
by the families and even though I state on the site that I would prefer
people didn't take them...they did. Even ones of things I had autographed!
The
one thing I didn't like was the impression that it was Robin (and you find
lots of sites like that on myspace where people have grabbed the name of
someone and are using it.
After
a few emails some of the more personal pictures were taken down and in
truth the pages do look good. Some have video (from youtube) and soundfiles.
You also get a lot of advertising and some strange things but.... it has
a broad range of opportunities to meet some very interesting people.
What I decided to do was start one for the band and just fool with it a
bit.
In
searching information I found myself locating a few people that I do know
were the real thing and we hook up sites together under the "friends" place
on the front pages.
Some
of the people I have hooked up with ..... .
Stevie Salas ... an amazing guitarist that I had heard years ago when
he was playing with Sass Jordan ( a huge Canadian singer that will blow
you away). Her first two albums featured Stevie and you could tell that
there was some "influences" from Robin. I even found a version of them
doing Too Rolling Stoned in a live setting. Fantastic stuff. He has also
played with Mick Jagger.
Then there was Vinnie Moore. A member of Alice Cooper's band, he toured the U.S. on the Operation Rock'N'Roll tour, and also performed on Alices album Hey Stoopid. Vinnie joined the legendary group UFO (Phil Mogg, vocals; Pete Way, bass; Jason Bonham, drums; Paul Raymond, keyboards). Check this guy out. He is amazing!
And funny enough Vinnie and Stevie have actually met before!!
Darryll St. John, an amazing guitarist also AND a friend of Davey Pattison. There is a clip of Davey and Darryll on the site doing Voyager. A very nice guy who I have corresponded with a few times. Check him out.
Mick
Clarke. Another friend of Davey Pattison (geez Davey who don't
you know??) Mick has played with many different bands and artists,
most notably The Who's John Entwistle, Jeff Beck & Chuck Berry and
Long John Baldry.
As it says in Mick's
profile:
" One of the more memorable
albums I worked on was for current Robin Trower vocalist Davey Pattison,
which helped launch his career in the US with Ronnie Montrose' Gamma."
Since we hooked up the two of them have reconnected. One thing about
the internet..it can bring your past back to you!.
Ray
Minhinnett
...one
of Britain's most passionate and soulful Blues-Rock Guitarist/Singer/Songwriters.
Initially spotted in his native North - East by Ex Animal, Alan Price.
In his early days he played with his own band, Highway, before he and Jim
Hall (Keyboard Player with Highway) joined forces with Frankie Miller to
form Frankie Miller's Full House. He is acknowledged by his peers as one
of the few real contenders for the title of 'King of British Blues Guitar'.
A friend of Pete Thompsons also.
Steevi Bacon ..from the Go My Way recordings with Robin Trower ( who did a bit of an interview for the site.
Richard Watts is hooked on with his current band Hussy showing some pix and clips. His band sounds great doing cover songs.
Jon Amor ..who I met during my 2006 trip to the UK. A great guy who is an awesome performer. You can find some sound files on the site. I have already ordered his cd.
Other guitarists like Matt Nash who has drawn some influences from Robin ...you have to listen to some of these tracks....there is so much out there that we miss.
Anyway, I just started the site up so please check it out and check out these other great artists pages....
