Funeral services for Ralph Livingston Cossaboom Sr., 69, of Foreston, MN, were held Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Fr. James Cashman officiating. He died at his home in Foreston on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003. Ralph was born Feb. 14, 1934 to Otto and Rose Cossaboom in Cornwall, Ont., Canada. He grew up in Cornwall and joined the Royal French Canadian Navy after high school. Ralph served in the Navy for four years and then joined the U.S. Navy where he served for four more years and was awarded the Medal of Bravery and the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the service, Ralph moved to Hyde Park, N.Y., where he worked as a fire protection specialist and a part-time home builder. He married Patricia Kwant and the couple had three children - David, Ralph Jr. and Laura. After 13 years of marriage they divorced and Ralph married Linda May Perry of Channelview, Texas. They had one child, Dustin, and they were later divorced. Ralph has lived in Minnesota for about the last 20 years. Ralph is survived by his children, David and wife Cheryl Cossaboom, Ralph Jr. and wife Liza Cossaboom, Laura Collins and Dustin Cossaboom; grandchildren, Christian Cossaboom, Krystal Cossaboom, Sara Collins, Sammy Collins, Dawson Cossaboom and Joleia Cossaboom; sisters, Kay and Mary; and brothers, John and Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank.

After a lengthy illness Mrs. Elizabeth L. McLaughlin passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Thursday, September 4th, 2003, she was 91. She was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Small) Cossaboom of White Head Island. She is survived by her daughter Dora McLaughlin of Deep Cove, her son James P.M. (Brenda) McLaughlin of Seal Cove. Five grandchildren (Jenny), Peter, Toby (Trisha), and Robyn, and Sarah L'Aventure, as well as five great grandchildren Ashley, Tanner, Jane, Madison, and Mya. Mrs. McLaughlin was predeceased by her husband Mr. Glenn H. McLaughlin and one sister Mrs. Ruby Cleland. Interment will be at the family plot at Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove, NB.

ROWENA MARGARET SMALL, 80 of White Head, Grand Manan passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Friday evening October 15th, after a lengthy illness. Born in Tiverton, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Woodworth. Mrs. Small was a loving mother, homemaker, and member of the White Head Baptist Church, a member of the Ladies Missionary Society, the Sunday School, as well as the Church Choir. Mrs. Small is survived by her daughter Pamela Carroll and her fiancé David Olsen of Grand Manan, one Grand Son Darrin Carroll of White Head, two Great Grand Sons Alexander and William Carroll, one brother James Woodworth (Glenda) of Fox Creek, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Small was predeceased by her husband Francis and one brother Harold Woodworth of White Head, N.B. The White Head Baptist Church 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM from where the funeral service will be held on Monday, October 18th, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Appleby officiating, interment to follow in the family plot White Head Community Cemetery.

Chronicle Herald Obituary 28 Mar 1974. DIGBY--Harold Randolph Small, 66, of Digby, died Tuesday at home. Born here, he was a son of the late Charles and Lydia (VanTassell) Small. He was a Canadian Pacific Railway employee for 34 years. Besides his wife, the former Alice Hodgson, he is survived by a son, Wilfred, Digby; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Andrews, Lower Saulnierville and Isabelle (Mrs. Earl Hardy), Clementsport; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, two sons and a brother. The body is at R. McCleave Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Church of God, Rev. R. Brown, assisted by Capt. W. Moore, officiating. Burial will be in Digby Baptist cemetery.

Hardy, Donald Philip-70, of New Minas, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, NS. Born in Bear River, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Earle and Mary (Small) Hardy. Don had been employed for eight years with the Royal Bank of Canada and following his banking career, served for eight years as Town Clerk and Treasurer for the Town of Bridgetown. He later became Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Kentville, retiring after 18 years of service. Don served as a Justice of the Peace from 1965 to 1985 and was a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia from 1973 until the present. He was also a member of the Transportation Committee of the Village of New Minas. Don was a past member of the Bridgetown Lions Club, a past president of the Rotary Club of Kentville and a past president of the Association of Municipal Administrators. He had been a member of the Dukes of Kent Barbershop Chorus for many years. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, was a former member of the choir and contemporary music groups and also served on the Parish Council, Prayer Team and other committees, including visiting. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Men's Club and was a member of the Cursillo Community. With his country gospel group, “Freedom 98", he had entertained many seniors, church and other charitable fund raisers. He was most recently involved with the Council of Churches and the Food Grains Bank. He received recognition for his outstanding volunteer work from the Village of New Minas and the Provincial and Federal Governments. He was also very active on the original committee for the building of Fidelis House, Kentville. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Winnifred (Winnie) Anderson; two daughters, Karen Janine (George) Turner, New Minas; Lori Anne (Derek) Taylor, Kentville; three brothers, Earle (Marilyn), Paradise; James (Myrna), Riverview, New Brunswick; David, Moschelle; three grandchildren, Chelsea, Courtney and Isaiah; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Lorraine Hardy; a sister, Earlena. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Don's life was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, The Reverend Archdeacon Lynn Uzans officiating. A reception followed in the Parish Hall. A private family interment took place in the Oakhill Cemetery, Annapolis Royal.
