Welcome to the McDormand Genealogy Web Site - Broken Branches Page

As you can imagine while compiling information on our family tree some branches have ended unexpectedly due to a lack of complete information. Listed below are several such broken branches where more information is required. If you are able to help a little or a lot please let me know. Sometimes what seems to you to be a tiny bit of information can be the key to unlocking a whole missing line.

Name and Birth/Death Dates

Known Information

Charles McDormand 1856-1912 and Mariah Louise Drennan 1861-1901 I am looking for information about their descendants to confirm what I have and to fill in many of the blanks. Their first son Robert Melbourne married Nellie May Winter but little is known about their 5 children. Their second son Charles was still living in Dresden, Kent Co., ON in the 1911 Census but nothing more is known. Their third son Scott was killed in action in France during WWI. Their fourth son Lawrence Joseph was charged with desertion during the war but no results of those charges are known.
Emma Ann McKay 1847-1921 and Moses Washington Savary (Savory) Dec 21, 1843-Jan 26, 1926 Emma & Moses had 7 children Norah M, Emma A, Agnes E, Jonathan M, Annie J, James M & Budford Wallace Savary. I have some information about James & Budford but nothing on the other 5 children. It appears they moved to Essex Co., MA around the the turn of the century.
Rachel McDormand About 1784 - After June 17, 1851 Rachel was born in Nova Scotia and died in Port Burwell, Elgin Co., ON. She was married to Francis Harris, Jr. on March 16, 1808 in Digby, NS. He was born about June 1788 in Nova Scotia and died September 25, 1847 in Port Burwell, Elgin Co., ON. This marriage produced 12 children: Caroline, Mary Ann, Sarah, Charlotte, Eliza Jane, Francis, Holland, James, Joseph, Nelson, Sidney & Stephen. We have only been able to find information about the first 3 girls and nothing on the other 9 children. Caroline married Henry Edison; Mary Ann married Thomas Edison (no not the one you are thinking of but certainly related); Sarah married Richard McCurdy. Does anyone have any information about this family?
Eliza McNeill Feb 28, 1846 - Aug 13 1910 Eliza was the daughter of Loueza McDormand & George Reid McNeill. She was married to Thomas L Jewett about 1882 in Massachusetts as his second wife and quite likely as her second husband. She immigrated to Massachusetts in 1865. The 1900 Census indicates she had given birth to 3 children all of whom were still living at that time. Does anyone have information about her children and a possible first husband?
