The "Potter" family name originated in Hampshire, England and traces their ancestral roots back to Norman origin. According to the Harleian Manuscripts housed in the British Museum in London, England, "Potter's" were found in Devonshire and Kent. Our Potter family originated from the county of Wiltshire, England; namely Rushall. From Wiltshire, our "Potter Family" travelled around a fair bit, moving to Wales for a period of time and then immigrating to Ashton-in-Makersfield and finally Chorley, Lancashire, England. At the turn of the century, part of the branch came to Alberta, Canada and another family member moved to Utah, in the United States. This homepage contains about 80 Potters from the late 1600's to the mid 1800's. |
