I believe in teamwork; working
together to encourage the best in ourselves and others. I
acknowledge that each student has strengths and weaknesses. We must always
strive to share our strengths, to work on our weak areas, to ask for and accept
help when it is needed. It's important to take risks and try new things
even if you may fail. Success is in the attempt; the journey. We
seldom get it right the first time.
I believe its important for
kids to feel good about their accomplishments and their contributions to group
work. I encourage constructive criticism of self and peers.
I believe that it is important
to strike a balance between fun, hands on activities and serious, sustained
effort over a period of time.
I expect kids to put forth
their best effort. Growth occurs only when you try.
I believe that kids care
about the earth we live on and the people and creatures we share it
with.
I believe that kids can
affect positive change.
I believe kids have important
things to say. It's my job to help them to carefully consider their ideas,
organize their thoughts, and authentically communicate them effectively
through various means to different audiences.
I believe kids are capable of
understanding themselves as learners. I encourage self-awareness and self-evaluation through the portfolio process and through the exploration of
learning
styles and multiple
intelligences.
