Revising

In this stage the writer is mainly concerned with the ideas in the piece of writing and the words used to express these ideas.  It involves the writer retinking and reconsidering the piece of writing. 

Revision

Rethink the Ideas

  • rearrange or reorganize the material

  • clarify inadequately expressed concepts

  • change emphasis

  • highlight concepts originally in a secondary position

  • place less emphasis on concepts originally too prominent

  • change or delete words, phrases or sentences that were inappropriate for the ideas

  • start again (Draft 2)

Rethink the Language

  • substitute

  • rearrange

  • add

  • delete

} words, phrases or paragraphs
