Proofreading/Editing
When writers have completed the second draft, they are ready to proofread the work. It is at this stage the writer focuses on the mechanics of the piece of writing. The use of a dictionary, a thesaurus and an editing checklist are important at this stage of the process. A final version of the writing is then completed.

form (margins, title, etc.)
legibility
Use the five step editing checklist to self-edit. Then get a peer and an adult to edit before beginning your final draft.
