BOOK TALK TIPS:
Choose a book you read and enjoyed.
Prepare well. Practice your talk before your sharing session.
Tell the title and author (hold the book up or set on display so audience can look at it while you speak).
Tell how the story begins, who is in the story and what happens until the climax only. Don’t tell the whole story or give away too many details.
Read a small section of the story that you feel would interest your audience.
Talk no longer than five minutes in total.
Express your opinion of the story. End your book talk with, "I like this story because…." or, "I recommend this book because…"
You will be expected to participate in a self-evaluation and peer evaluation using the rubric on the back of this sheet.
