STOVE BUILDING PROJECT
Funding is provided and volunteer labour supplied to convert homes from open wood-burning fires to the fuel-efficient vented stoves which improve the health and lives of families and their children and minimize forest depletion.
Volunteers build them on-site.
This is done on a work/travel trip where volunteers work for the first week, and tour the country in the second week.
MEDICAL AND DENTAL CLINICS
Medical and dental personnel volunteer to conduct clinics and to provide educational information on health issues to individuals.
Medical and dental care is minimal in these areas and whatever can be done for as many people as possible is carried out during the clinics.
EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS
We are constructing new schools and classrooms for those who need them in the area of Uspantan, thanks to our "Buy a Block, Build a Future Campaign".
Financial assistance is delivered to schools.
A Scholarship Fund assists individual Maya
students, both Elementary and Secondary.
School supplies and materials are distributed.
Education for girls is supported, as they often are less educated than boys.
We have introduced a teacher training program for Colegio Maya.
