respond and tell him it would be rad to start tuning down again, because the guitarist fans could jam to a wider range of songs without retuning.. you know how lazy guitar players are.

OK
Stop with that whole lazy guitarist thing. That's really selfish.

Re: OK
great exchange. Thanks for posting.
So what does everyone seriously think about the standard tuning issue now? Does it make a difference to you? Would the new stuff sound better if it was tuned down a half step?

Re: OK
doesnt make a lot of difference to me, the only reason you WOULD tune down is to give the guitar a looser feel and easier bending, or to help the songs match your vocal range better, or just give them a bit of a lower feel.
which is all fine and good, i think a return to Eb would be rad.

Re: Post Emails From Rivers Cuomo Here *Confidential*
He says he's giving Brian and Scott the opportunity to create their own vocal parts, this is interesting.
I've noticed some really great backup vocals from Brian on the recent stuff (see: Living Without You), and I'm digging it! But I have yet to hear Scott's voice, is he even singing or is he just really quiet? Well, regardless, I hate to say it......but I think I can begin to forget about the lack of matt's falsetto as long as brian keeps this up.

I thought it was always easier to sing with the guitars at Eb. I know a ton of bands who are standard on the album, but live they tune down.
It's not really good that Brian and Scott are in charge of coming up with their own parts. I guess it's OK with these songs, but look at the great work Rivers did on the first two albums.

ya true....i through in a ps in my next email saying.."ever thought of a female vocalist joining the band"
it was one of those things like if u think it is a stupid suggestion....oh well it was just a joke...but in actual fact i was really thinking it would not be too bad...a sudden replacement for falsettos

Well....
Kind of like Rachel Haden on Bleed American. She didn't sing any lead vocals but you could definately tell it was her doing back ups....Rachel would actually be a good idea cause I Just was a fucking great song.

Re: Well....
Rachel Hayden has the voice of an angel, although she didn't look too enthused to be playing at the concert in San Jose..

Re: Well....
Well, I've heard having Rachel Haden on board kind of fucks up the sound of Jimmy Eat World live. Like, when she sings on songs that she didn't sing on the original versions of, it detracts from it. I don't think Weezer needs a female vocalist, and I sort of doubt Matt can be replaced.
But like I said earlier, I like the fact that I'm hearing more prominent Brian vocals on the new stuff. Any fan of the Space Twins knows he is well up to task with the singing.

Re: Well....
I agree...Petra was awesome in that album...as well as she did some vocals in the first rentals album too...either or if they ever consider getting a female vocalist...but i doubt it will be considered

Re: Well....
female vocals for weezer would only be good if it is occasional. As for tuning, tuning down gives the songs more of a "gruffy" sound, not as polished, but it's good for weezer songs.
