well karl might like it, but it just spreads the word around and more people know, making it less personal. rivers isnt going to respond to 200 emails form 12 year olds about how they think hes hot, nor is he going to want to read over and over about "why dont you play across the sea at concerts." Maybe hes just trying to show he does like his fans. The more emails he gets the shorter time this will last, sooner or later some radio station will talk about "how to email rivers from weezer" and then EVERYONE will know, and most likely all of this will end.
so with my 2 cents if you get a email from rivers, keep it to your self, and your friends. dont brag about it here or anywhere, the more people that know, the less likely youll ever get a thought from rivers agian.

i think the conversations that have resulted from the whole rivers correspondence thing have been some of the most intellectual discussions on here. keep on posting them, he's obviously interested in what we think, feed that

there is a new post on the .com board mentioning what is going on here....
its true that they will just ignore the teenie bopper messages, but if the teenie boppers know we are getting responses and they arent ...that will create division and rivers wont want that....they will take it as...he likes them but not us....and weezer will not want that...so rivers will just say, screw this its too much of a risk

friar - good post - your concerns are valid.. but the purpose of all this sharing isn't to show off -- as far as I can tell. Rivers has encouraged people to write him with their comments and opinions. He wants this. The emails that are pure drivel obviously exist, but I doubt they even get to him. Karl's probably the 'filter' (poor guy).
By sharing everything here on the board, we can come together, gather information and encourage discussion about things we think Rivers should know. I mean we're definately helping him here. He said it himself.
Good point about not wanting the media to get involved (which they probably eventually will) - but I don't think Rivers gives a shit about that. As long as Rivers wants to listen and respond, he'll keep doing so. The media isn't going to stop that. Keeping the lines of communication open with Rivers includes what's being said on this board, because I'm pretty sure he reads when he has time. So by posting and discussing his messages, in essence we're helping him here too.

I just meant this stuff will reach, er, people you dont want it to reach. theres no way for you to stop this from going anywhere. you cant discuss with out posting, and you cant post it with out it going places you dont want it to go. I'm not going to tell you how to act, and im not going to pretend to understand how you all think. You know where it will go. I just didnt think youd want it in a place you obviously dont like.
and rezee: i understood that much, im just tired of alot of that board. I dont pretend to know everything that goes on here, but i understood enough not to send things over there.

that is a rediculous statement.. and so selfish.
This whole message board is like an open ended letter to Rivers, we all know he has(still?) read this message board, so most likely he takes everything into considerations and when someone posts a letter they received from him he gets to see everyone comment on what the person said and see if it is the general consensus.
