I'm sorry for all these questions but I can't resist the urge to ask. I'm a little obsessive sometimes.
I don't necessarily agree with all of your views but they've certainly helped me to see things that I want to fix.
One other thought: I went through a massive Oasis phase in 97-99. I bet Liam rubbed off on me. He's a very non-dynamic singer. Perhaps his influence wasn't a good thing.
One other question (so I can better understand your biases): what recently released albums do you love?

How cool is that? The Liam thing makes alot of sense, actually. I hear alot of his vocal stylings on Green.

If you think Rivers doesn't care about the fans anymore, you're wrong. I mean, come on, just because he made a few negative comments about Weez-heads (which I thought were _directed_ at people like asschun) doesn't mean he doesn't care about the opinions of his fans anymore. asschun, props for taking the initiative and going straight to the source to vent your massive numbers of complaints about the Green album.
Glorious Day, I would have to say, is QUITE Oasis. I think a couple days ago, someone posted Rivers sounding like Liam, and I agree, to some extent, on the latter half of Green.

i wont tell you all that i listed, (im ashamed of some of them)but i said the radiohead albums, the smashing pumpkins hit cd, the D....
here is what i wrote about green:
then there is the green album....i dont love it. let's just say it was a disappointment. from the first mp3 that was released, teenage victory song, to the last track. i really dont think i hate it. i just like to think i do. its not a bad album, it was just nothing special compared to anything i had heard recently. i cant even compare it to blue/pinkerton, for obvious reasons. it was just disappointing, and i dont like to admit that. but i can live with 2 awesome =w= albums on my own. rock.

No-one has any good reason to believe anything they read on this board, but asschun would have to be a complete psycho to be making this all up, and a damn good liar.
Asschun's posts (of late anyway) are indeed legit. And I think it's cool that she's sharing them with us. Also, like someone said, props to her for taking her issues straight to the source rather than complaining here about them 24-7 like some do.

i wrote this in the other thread but the reason rivers sounds different now is because his braces altered his mouth altering the soundwaves that come out as he sings. Its true. thats why most singers that need them (example-billy corgan) won't get them.

the song ranking isnt that accurate i could feel like changing around the last 4 ....this is exactly what i wrote in part of my email:

asschun, what are you trying to tell rivers? I came into this thread sorta late and got bogged down y all the whiny people complaining about you lying or faking this... are you saying rivers is singing MORE like the blue album now? or LESS like the blue album now? or what....
i meant to say too that the song I've noticed rivers sings VERY differently live over the last what.. 10 years? is Say it Aint So. If you listen to one version from each year he's done it live, it sounds TOOOOTALLY different now - his vocal range seems less distinct than it did back in the day, at least to me, and it's VERY noticable in that song when done live. and for some reason all the times he sings it in '96 he seems to be REALLY belting it out velouria style - when was velouria recorded? I'm not sure but i'm gonna bet around 96, right? He really seems to pound out the lines with emphasis but not now.
but ya, what's your original point?

my email to Karl before the response by rivers(or at least someone claiming to be him as far as i know):
at some points during 'slave' it sound like he is singing slightly off key which hurts my ears. it happens when his voice sounds like it breaks[edit: by this i mean it is SLIGHTLY sung off key and slides to the correct note] on purpose...do you understand? "...no way, youre on your own, you can see things" this line is sung almost annoyingly. o girlfriend and i do were just obvious new style. excessive quivering, some voice breaks, same voice throughout.
another thing: it sounds like he sings without as much energy now, not necessarily emotion. he doesnt go from soft to loud much. i couldnt tell you where he has in recently written songs.
ah the blue songs: i switched from listening for 20 minutes of #4-7 to a 9-20-01 bootleg. pretty soon i will listen to a 11-22-96 boot for comparison....i am glad those songs were not sung with the new voice. that would be butchery. of course vocally, it is missing the matt sharp falsettos but i tried to ignore that fact and just listen to Rivers. his voice was a lot more raspier in the day. it worked really well with the soft/loud dynamics when he had bursts of 'loud'.
PS concerning the falsetto, it's fine that most of green lacked falsettos because the type of music in general would probably not work together with that voice.

yeah, tell him to up the energy, that's the main thing. The second is the quivering thing, but i don't think he does it anymore. About his voice being off key, yeah, it works for some bands not to sound polished (like pavement and sonic youth) and but not for weezer. I mean, go all up and down the range of the keys, but at least hit a key. I don't really notice it much on slave though... sometimes on some of the newer bootleges.

yea, really he's kinda of 'getting back into thigs'. I know the band WAS touring and rivers was playing music whatever whatever during the 'off period', but really the whole thing was a mess. The shows were inconsistant etc, so basically Rivers has to in a way start over, he's got new songs, a WHOLE new audience, and i'm sure he's uncertain how his voice sounds... i think he will bring it back (not that he's lost anything REALLY - he still has one of the coolest fuckin voices) to the level/quality/enthusiasm he had in '94 - he's definately shown improvement from 2000 to 2001.
Plus it's rivers.
'nuff said.
It just takes time.

Even if it is a scam, would Mr. asschun actually go through all this trouble (coming up with "fake" e-mails, responding to everyone's questions, etc.)..?

rather than a producer, a manager, or a record executive. You make
suggestions motivated by artistic concerns, you posess greater knowledge of
weezer-music, and you notice the tiny details those other hired-hands miss.
I wish I could grasp the rock entirely on my own, but the truth is, I, and
most other musicians, need some sort of advising--whether it be from a
