I have been using an inexpensive HP 'PhotoSmart'  Digital Camera for the last number of years to do my work with.

Key Benefits

bulletMost digital cameras you get what you see and you can see what you get using the viewer.  I don't have a viewer on my camera, and I don't mind.  Viewers use battery power and I have to carry a number of batteries with me anyway.
bulletNo developing costs.  You can delete unwanted shots and enhance those that need some TLC.
bulletYou can use the images to send via Email, use in publications and ads that you create.
bulletYour photos can be put on CD ROM and archived for next generations.

These are the steps I use:

  1. Shoot the photos I want.
  2. Transfer them to my computer into a folder that I create with a name referring to the shooting session.  Main folder would be '~AA_Photos'. I use the tilde symbol so that this folder is at the top of my main drive's directory tree. Within this folder, I create several sub-folders.  Ref. to example below.

Don't be shy regarding the making of folders.  Be organized!! Know where your Photos are. Keep it simple!  The day might come when you won't know where you put a photo if you don't organize NOW. 'Guess where the batch of photos from last January's Ski Trip is'.

I save my photos in a folder 'as is' directly from the camera. Then I make a folder below this and label it something like "1st Editing" or "Resized".  When I begin manipulating my photos, I save them in this new folder under a different identifiable name, just in case I 'blow it', I can start fresh again with the original.

My camera produces Tifs as the type of file. Tagged Image File Format
Other formats are as follows;
