Rich Williams
Western Canadian Artist

Rich Williams work is primarily in watercolor and covers a cross section of subjects such as landscapes, portraits, old weathered structures, as well as western ranching and farm scenes.  The need to portray the subtle feeling of nature has led to the painting of natures hidden treasures.  This is reflected in his paintings of some of nature's small and usually unnoticed scenes.

Rich, a Calgarian, has been drawing landscapes for many years.  While recovering from surgery in 1990 he actively took up painting with watercolor, oils and acrylics.  He has been painting ever since.  He attended S.A.I.T. taking first year Architectural Technology where he learned perspective drawing and figure sketching principals.  Rich also attended the Alberta College of Art where he took lessons in figure drawing.  Understanding the need to further improve his technique with all mediums, he has taken numerous lessons under various artists, as well as attending several workshops to improve his style.  As a result Rich has won several awards for his painting in recent competitions.
