Randall is currently serving as a the Member of Parliament for Esquimalt-Juan de
Fuca. He previously served as a Councillor for the Township of Esquimalt, one of
the four core municipalities in Greater Victoria. Randall is a long-time social justice
and environmental activist, both at home and internationally. He has always been
an active member of neighbourhood and community organisations, including serving
as President of his local YM-YWCA, as founding President of a community-based immigrant
and refugee services centre, and as a member of the Esquimalt Municipal Police Board.
His commitment to social justice has also led Randall to work in international development
and human rights. He co-coordinated the largest human rights observer mission for
the United Nations referendum on independence in East Timor in 1999. At the beginning
of 2002 he set up an ongoing peacebuilding project between Christian and Muslim communities
in the Malukus, Indonesia, for the International Catholic Migration Commission. Later
that year he worked as policing researcher for Amnesty International in Afghanistan
to develop a plan for creating human-rights based policing in Afghanistan. Most
recently Randall served as an international observer for the 2010 Philippine national
elections.
Randall previously worked as an instructor in Criminal Justice and Political Science
at Camosun College.
