My record on the environment is both long and solid green from blocking rush hour traffic on the first earth day, to organising the first beach clean up in West Bay in the late 1980s, to my strong public opposition to oil and gas drilling off our coast. I have helped promote priority projects like modern sewage treatment with resource recovery, bike lanes, and the E & N Rail Trail. As a Councillor I created an Environment Sustainability Fund for Esquimalt, got solar hot water installed on our municipal hall, and convinced our Council to adopt science based GhG reduction targets.
