Rebecca
Woo - ArtistRebecca Woo enjoyed five years of happy family life in Taiwan in the 1960's, however a tragic accident took the life of her pilot husband and left her a young widow with two small children. In 1971 she decided to leave Taiwan and with her children immigrated to Canada to begin a new life. Being a single mother in a new country was a struggle and the dreams she had since a child to write, draw and paint were to take second place to raising her family. When the duties of being a mother began to lessen she found time to begin to draw and paint. Rebecca has never had any formal art training. She has, however, taken art courses with Neil Patterson, Howard Carr and Alan Wylie as well as attending local workshops. For Rebecca, art is one way that a spiritual connection with her soul is achieved, and that it brings the highest quality to one's life. She believes, "There is not a lot that one may be able to do to live longer, but there is a lot that one can do to make your life one of peace and tranquility." Rebecca
paints not for financial success, but for the joy of a beautiful creation
and expression of her feelings. Sharing her vision and work with others
provides the reward and satisfaction. Her work has been displayed at local art shows and galleries. Her paintings also are displayed in private collections. Rebecca Woo is a member of the following organizations: |
