Indoor Electrics

For the past couple of years a few members of the VRCMS have established and indoor flying season from October to March. We fly once a week (Saturday) for about 3 hours and it is a great way to keep your mind and thumbs communicating over the winter.

The great thing about our little "foamie" airplanes is that they take lots of abuse but with a little glue they are back in the air in no time. It's like flying in a small box where the walls and ceiling seem to come out of nowhere. I doesn't take long to learn to use your rudder unless you want to spend a lot of time making repairs.

I'm not a big fan of foamie bi-planes as they have lots of parts and can be a challenge to repair and fly over a mono wing design. This is an E-Flite Devo designed by Quique Somenzini that I am flying this season. A little heavier that I am used to but I have to admit it does rolling circles pretty good.

And now something completely different….. The Victoria Salmon Kings blimp.

Myself along with a few other pilots have taken on the task of flying the blimp for the 08/09 season during the intermissions. Although it might look easy, there are obstacles such as the guide wires to the netting, score clock, A/C system turned on but it sure is a lot of fun.

Here I am flying the blimp during a game after dropping the prize envelopes.

The blimp crew were at it again. Robyn and I came up with a couple of additions for the blimp on Halloween night. Although the Salmon Kings didn't win, the blimp crew went home happy about their witch creation. Check out the black cat!!!
