The RCMP / GRC has over 377 Patrol Vessels, the majority of which are less than 8 meters in length. Please have a close look at the High Speed Catamaran which make up the Fleet on the Larger Vessels. They are capable of speeds in excess of 25 knots and supply a multi-purpose work platform designed out for Underwater Recovery Teams, Emergency Response Teams, and have been reported as being the best tool to date for other sustained Police Operations (please refer to Operational Services for details).

PATROL VESSEL "INKSTER"
Based in Prince Rupert, B.C.

Patrol Vessel "Inkster" - 19.75 meter High Speed Patrol Catamaran with Air Services Cessna 208. This Patrol Vessel is stationed at Prince Rupert, British Columbia and is the location of the North Coast Satellite Marine Detachment, the North District component of the West Coast Marine Detachment. These two Units patrol an area south to Vancouver Island a distance of approximately 300 Nautical Miles in Length.

Patrol Vessel "Inkster" with two Ridged Hulled Inflatables alongside a Migrant Ship. After a 34 Nautical Mile chase, RCMP Members boarded this Migrant Ship in International Waters in 1999 after it had delivered 132 migrants onto the South Shore of the Queen Charlotte Islands.

PATROL VESSELS "LINDSAY", "HIGGITT" & "NADON"
Based in Nanaimo, Pat Bay & Campbell River, B.C.


These 17.7 meter High Speed Patrol Catamarans, although stationed at Nanaimo, British Columbia, they share the responsibility in patrolling from the Washington State Border North to the Mid Coast, north of Vancouver Island - approximately 300 nautical miles in length.

7.33 METER RIGID HULLED INFLATABLE BOAT (R.H.I.B.)

Used extensively by the West Coast Marine Detachment - they come fully rigged with Radar / DGPS Navigation and Communication Packages and can sustain a Speed in Excess of 40 knots.

5.30 METER RIGID HULLED INFLATABLE BOAT (R.H.I.B.)

These Vessels are also used extensively by the West Coast Marine Detachment. They act as tenders on the Patrol Catamarans with limited capabilities and can sustain a Speed in Excess of 30 knots.

Based at Hamilton, Ontario

Patrol Vessel "Simmons"

One of three vessels operating on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway as part of the Marine Security Enforcement Team (MSET). Combined together, they operate a joint federal marine security partnership involving the RCMP and the Canadian Coast Guard.
