West Coast Marine Service
"The West Coast Marine Program serves as an integrated organizational framework designed to specifically enhance and sustain the delivery of quality policing to our Coastal Communities and Territorial Seas unique to British Columbia and the West Coast of Canada. Through effective and innovative management principles and the development of internal and external partnerships, marine resources and equipment will be deployed in a coordinated and accountable manner to ensure service delivery is consistent with the Force's organizational goals, Mission, Vision and Core Values."
On behalf of the RCMP Members and Staff of the
West Coast Marine Service, we would like to welcome you to our website.
Our Service consists of 29 Regular RCMP Members, 3 full-time and 2
part-time support personnel which includes our engineering staff. The Service is coordinated out of our Nanaimo Office
with a satellite unit situated in Prince Rupert adjacent to the Northern
International Boundary with Alaska and the United States.
The Patrol Area encompasses an area from
Washington to Alaska which includes the entire British Columbia Coastline.
It lends support to 45 Coastal Detachments and 8 Municipal Police Services
spanning a patrol area of 600 miles in length. It encompasses hundreds of
Islands, Camps and Settlements which are not serviced by road. They are
however serviced routinely by RCMP Marine and Air Transport.
In an emergency, we ask our clientele to contact
the nearest Detachment or Police Service of Jurisdiction who will in turn
contact our Patrol Units. For non-emergent calls, we do encourage direct
contact with our office situated in the center of Vancouver Island in the
City of Nanaimo.
