Jane Thomson [193]
Another name for Jane was Jean Thomson. Birth Notes: We have the Government Registry for Scotland death certificate for Jean Thomson. By using this information we have been able to determine that we have the correct family burial plot. We are taking the dates from the monumental inscriptions and death certificates as the most accurate information, as we do not have actual birth information, but do have a baptism from "old parish records". According to the monumental inscription Jean was 77 years old when she died, that would make her born in 1779. Jean's death certificate states she was 82 years old when she died. As the burial head stone was erected by Francis and Isabella Berry, we think that it was not erected until some years after Jean's death, if this is the case it could be the reason in the difference in age at death dilemma, as in many cases the families don't have the actual records and Jean's age at death was left to memory. Christening Notes: Jean Thomson, lawful daughter of James Thomson and his spouse Elizabeth Mitchell baptized in the Parish of Cluny. Death Notes: Jane (farmers widow) of Sauchenbush, Lumphanan, died at 1:50 p.m. on a Wednesday at the age of 77, her son Francis Berry present at the time. Jane was predeceased by John Berry her husband. Jane's parents are stated as James Thomson, farmer deceased and Elizabeth Thomson, nee Mitchell deceased. Jane was buried in the Parish Church yard of Lumphanan as certified by William Emslie, Sexton. Burial Notes: Jane is buried at the St. Finnan's Churchyard Lumphanan, stone number 41.
