Every year we support several programs in Kwalicum Secondary School as well as other youth programs in our area. This year we will be offering the use of our new meeting hall "Rotary House " to various non-profit groups in Qualicum Beach to help them with their efforts to improve the quality of life in our community.

As well, we have participated in organizing Qualicum Beach`s annual Family Day festival for children and this year will be a funding sponsor of several events to provide entertainment to the youngest members of our community.

Our new international project this year will be to support the efforts of the Canadian International Development Agency and the Global Association for People and Environment in their work in Laos.We will provide some of the funding needed to set up clean water sources and schooling to a number of villages in northern Laos.

We are going to support the work of Operation Eyesight Universal, an organization based in Calgary, to provide the gift of sight to people in the third world.By recognizing our various guest speakers with a contribution to OEU,that organization will be able to do cataract operations and other procedures to restore sight to many people.

We continue to support Courtenay Rotary Club`s Doug Ante schools project in Zimbabwe and the ongoing efforts of Qualicum Beach based Poco a Poco to improve health care in Guatemala.

At our August 21, 2001 meeting, we committed support to GAPE for a remote education project in Laos. The details are here.
