When this web site is updated, usually at least weekly, an email message is sent to each member of our club and anyone else who asks for these alerts. If you would like to be added, subscriptions are free and open to everyone. Check here for more information. Our policy is that most of our web site is publicly accessible so a person need not be a member of our club to be added to this mailing list. In addition to our own members, former members and other friends of Rotary receive our email messages about site updates.
There are parts of our web site that are not publicly accessible. Our list of members and minutes of our club executive meetings for instance are matters for members only. A password is necessary to access this part of the web site. The password for this section will be given to any member of our club upon request. Contact Ken Walker by email requesting the password.
Also for members only, we maintain a listserver. This listserver is available only to members of the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise. New members are automatically added. Members who leave the club are automatically deleted from the list. The mailing list address is qbsunrise@qblaw.ca. Any message sent to that address by a member of the club will automatically be resent to all club members and only club members. If the sender of the message is not a club member, the message will be rejected. This way club members have a way of communicating with the members of the club knowing that what they say only goes to our members and that it goes to all members who have email access.
The listserver itself has some options you can set yourself. For example, you can receive each message individually (the default setting) or you can receive a digest. Using this method, the messages for you are collected and sent to you as a group. For help on this and other options, check out the help file.
To receive the help file, send a message to maiser@qblaw.ca (short for mailserver). The subject of the message can be anything. The first line of the message must have only the word "help". Without the quotes. Note: Do not send this command to qbsunrise@qblaw.ca because the server will think that it is a message to be sent out and send it to everyone on the list. That would mean everyone on the list would get a message from you saying "help". I know, I have done it! If you have trouble using the mailing list, let me know.
