Railings - we use engineered aluminum extrusions with a high endurance powder coating. The system has been strength tested and is designed so that glass panels need only be supported on the top and bottom......less obstruction to views......cleaner looking. This is one of the few systems providing both Warnock Hersey Lab test results and engineering. It is important to note that although a system is engineered for strength and beauty, it must also be BUILT PROPERLY by competent installers with regard to both the structure it is being attached to and the configuration of the rail system.

Waterproof membranes - we use PVC (poly vinyl chloride) sheet goods specially designed for nonslip waterproof walking surfaces on plywood or concrete. For concrete on grade, a plastic barrier must be present under the concrete to prevent hydrostatic pressure from lifting the membrane. PVC sheeting comes in various weights, textures and quality which determines life expectancy, usually from about 8 years to 20 years plus. It is important to choose a smooth surface membrane to allow for ease of sweeping & mopping. The rougher the surface the more difficult it is to clean. Life expectancy is also directly related to how well the product is installed & the type of sealants used in critical areas such as around posts, drains, curbs & pony walls. This seems to be a problem area with many new homes & is becoming a concern for new home warranties.
Many serious problems resulting from poor installations show up after just a few years , so not only is it important to use an approved quality product, but the INSTALLATION is just as important. We have 1 of only a few PVC membranes with approval as a roofing product for roof decks.

Exterior Liquid Coatings - Take your pick........acrylic, urethane, hypalon, epoxy-fiberglass. The most durable is urethane and also is most forgiving with temperature. Also very durable is epoxy-fiberglass but is probably most critical with installation conditions requiring perfectly dry and warm conditions. The easiest to work with is acrylic. In order of cost from most economical: acrylic, hypalon, urethane, epoxy-fiberglass.

Our new Polar flat panels are very attractive and great for sunrooms. They come with an R20 or R30 rating.Contrary to popular belief, aluminum covers are NOT just for mobile homes. They can compliment any home and are very practical: allows use of deck or patio on rainy or hot days and protects patio furniture and barbecues from the elements.
It is recommended that part of the deck or patio be left open to the sky allowing for sun bathing.....the warmth of the sun on a cool day and enjoyment of flower boxes.

Metal Cap Flashing - made of galvanized steel for tops of wood railing or pony walls and deck curbs. Steel is preferred over aluminum because it is more rigid thus holding its shape better and is less susceptible to warping, rippling and denting. The paint is baked on for durability.
Where pony walls and curbs are involved, we highly recommend a self-adhering self sealing bitumen membrane be applied before the cap flashing is installed.
Vinyl Cap flashing - wood top rail can be covered with rigid vinyl caps or vinyl membrane making maintenance a breeze. Rigid vinyl is not the nicest looking but is the best for taking abuse such as wheel chairs bumping into it.
