Vancouver Island remains linked to the hydroelectric power grid and gas pipeline network of British Columbia. But the Principality's reliance on foreign energy sources was greatly diminished by the completion of the Great Whale Tidal Power Station at Port Alberni. |

Additional power is generated by the Port Hardy Wind Farm, located at the northeast tip of the Island. Local communities also produce electricity through a variety of technologies, including geothermal, solar panels, heat pumps and small-scale hydroelectric stations. |
