Help support people in need like Jason Kaye through the Bissell Centre!

Jason - January 1978

Jason Anthony Kaye was born on January 15th, 1978.

Bermuda 1977

He was born in Bermuda and kissed by a tropical sun.

My father was in the Canadian Armed Forces back then, and we were posted to Bermuda for 2 years, later extending our stay to 3 years. We lived in a house on Jews Bay and at night we could watch the small cruise ships pass by and hear music and laughter. It was the best 3 years of our lives!

Jason was the "golden child" and my first baby...although he wasn't really mine. Jason - 1979

Jason was my baby brother, born when I was 14 years old. My other brother Derek and I had resolved ourselves to being the only children of Larry and Mary Kaye, never dreaming that we would have a brother named Jason who looked like an innocent copper-headed cherub but had the temperament of a little devil. When he was happy, he was a clown! When Jason was mad...everyone knew it!

Jason moved to Edmonton, Alberta, from Salt Spring Island, BC, to look for work and to better himself. However, life had other plans for him and holding down a job became a constant battle. Jason was a creator, a computer whiz with so much potential. He had a great sense of humor, and anyone who got to know him was truly blessed. He had a heart of gold and would give anyone the shirt off his back if they were in need. Yes, he had his demons...and alcohol was one of them, but there was so much more to Jay aka Jason Kaye, and only those close to him got to see past his troubled life.

On January 23, 2006, Jason Kaye was a victim of a vicious, pointless crime, and he was murdered a block away from the back alley of the Mustard Seed Church, a church that caters to low-income or no-income inner-city residents. Jason had nothing worth stealing, nothing worth losing his life over. Whoever killed him is nothing more than the lowest of cowards.

We hope that one day someone will come forward, perhaps to admit to witnessing his murder, or perhaps to ease a guilty mind.

Jason and Grandma Hanna

Jason and our Grandma Hanna when she came to Bermuda to visit us.

They are together once more...forever.
