Prairie Memorial Crematorium Alternative Services Centre is a lower cost alternative that provides affordable cremation service in the city of Moose Jaw and surrounding district. Since the opening of the crematorium in 1976, we have been providing cremation services only to Funeral Homes in southern Saskatchewan.  Effective December 23, 2002 we will   offer services for those who prefer a more simplified arrangement, directly to the public

The mission of Prairie Memorial Crematorium Alternative Services Centre is to provide personalized, professional service to families who choose cremation as a dignified, affordable choice of disposition with memorial options and alternatives.    

Our Goal

At Prairie Memorial Crematorium Alternative Services Centre we realize that making final arrangements for a loved one is never easy. Our goal is to provide you with the highest level of personal service, while paying close attention to the details so that we ease the burden of the family at a difficult time.

We are not a funeral home. We are an alternative to a funeral home specializing in direct cremation with the basic services. Therefore, we do not have the overhead expenses of a funeral home. This allows us to provide our families with a direct cremation package at a lower price, without compromising our service to you. We specialize in providing direct cremation to families in the city of Moose Jaw and the surrounding communities. Our services are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

At Prairie Memorial Crematorium Alternative Services Centre we realize that going to a funeral home can be a very emotional experience. To help ease some of this emotional difficulty we bring our services to you. At your time of need a licensed funeral director will meet with you, at our office, in your home or other location convenient for you, to complete the arrangement conference. During this meeting all of the required documents will be completed. After the cremation is completed, the cremated remains, proof of death certificates and any urn or memorial merchandise that you selected will be delivered back to you. All of these services are included in the price of our direct cremation package.  

The chapel is located at Rosedale Cemetery. Prairie Memorial Crematorium Gathering Chapel accommodates groups of up to 50 persons and is available for family farewell or memorial ceremonies.

Prairie Memorial Crematorium provides a Columbarium as an alternative to earth burial.  Here, families may come to spend a quiet period near the resting place of their loved one.  The Columbarium is a warm, oak paneled room appropriately designed for private family visitation.  Niches are of the open type with the urn visible behind glass fronts, while those in the community crypt are sealed with memorial tablets on which inscriptions are engraved. 

The Reception Hall is centrally located in downtown Moose Jaw,  at 262 Athabasca Street East.  Prairie Memorial Crematorium Alternative Services Centre can co-ordinate facilities for the gathering of friends and family for fellowship and support.  This facility can also be used for smaller ceremonies of remembrance.
