"Voyage of the Acolyte" entered the UK charts on October 20, 1975 reaching position 26 by November 1, 1975 eventually achieving Silver sales status. It entered the US charts on April 19, 1976 and reached position 191 on May 8, 1976.

Steve's first solo album clearly shows influence from his work with Genesis on "Foxtrot" and "Nursery Cryme". The presence of Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford clearly contributed to the only Hackett album with a "Genesis" atmosphere. However the track 'Ace of Wands' was an indication of the wilder side of Steve's music that appeared on some of his later work. Unfortunately all CD releases of this album which I have heard, suffer from an incredible amount of hiss. Can we expect a digitally re-mastered CD to be released one day?
