Rei
(Manga summary)
[Rei's condition is worsening; Toki and Ken can do nothing for
him. Rei leaves the room, so that Mamiya won't see him in this
awful state]
[Rei and Ken talk - before, he was like a savage wolf, living
only for his sister Airi. Since meeting Ken, Toki, Bat, Lynn and
Mamiya, he was become human again]
[Distressed by Rei's suffering, Mamiya decides to travel to Medi-
cine City, to get drugs to help ease his suffering]
Toki explains: "That town manufactured miracle drugs for Ken-ou;
but the only thing to be created was a place of madness. Now, it
has fallen again into anarchy"
The city has come under the control of Garufu (Galf?) "The Mad
Cardinal," who has decreed that the city is under "the law of the
dogs." Mamiya is caught killing a dog, and so must face punish-
ment. After tormenting her with thrown spiked collars, Garufu
queries one of his dogs: "Hey Yaki; that woman- innocence, or ex-
ecution?" "Woof!" "I see! Of course Execution!"
[Ken and Rei arrive]
Galf is of course, no match for Ken, who destroys him in the usu-
al fashion. As they prepare to leave, Rei notices the letters
"UD" branded in Mamiya's shoulder. UD is the mark of Yuda.
[mushy stuff]
In his citadel, Yuda poses before his collection of beautiful
women. "Am I beautiful?" "Yes, Lord Yuda" "In this world, there
are none more strong. Or as beautiful!"
-------------
Yuda's advisor has returned, to apprise him of Kenou's movements.
As they discuss strategy, Yuda notices one of his women has been
concealing a scar on her forehead. Since her beauty is less than
perfect, Yuda gives her to his men, to do with as they will.
Back at the village, the chief explains Mamiya's tragic past. On
her twentieth birthday, she was abducted by Yuda, and her parents
sliced to pieces before her eyes. Several days later, she reap-
peared. Since that day, she has abandoned all things feminine.
[Rei vows to kill Yuda]
[Ken and Rei proceede to Yuda's fortress]
They are greeted by Dagaaru, Yuda's aide-de-camp, who informs
them that Yuda has departed, tricking Rei into wasting precious
time. He now has only one day left to live. Dagaaru notices
that Ken's left arm is still damaged from his fight with Raoh.
Using only his wounded arm, Ken easily defeats Dagaaru, and in-
flicts him with the same agony that Rei is suffering. Dagaaru,
pleading for his life, tells them Yuda is in Blue Town.
After the two leave, Yuda returns unexpectedly. Dagaaru has gone
mad with pain. Yuda explains that he lied about his whereabouts,
in order test Ken's power. Enraged at this betrayal, Dagaaru at-
tacks, but gets split in half.
[spy mentions that Mamiya can see shichousei]
Back at the village, Rei is bed-ridden. Toki explains that there
is a way which can extend his life by a small amount. However,
it would greatly intensify Rei's pain, and in his condition,
could kill him instantly.
[choice - medicine, or the technique]
Meanwhile, Mamiya is outside, unable to watch Rei in pain. As
she waits, Yuda appears.
[explains about shichousei]
[Rei chooses to receive the technique]
[scenes of intense pain]
After the ordeal ends, Rei appears, his hair having turned white
by the pain. Rei confronts Yuda.

(TV summary ep 48 - 50)
Yuda and his men have tracked down the location of Rei, and move
into the village, taking Mamiya hostage. Thinking that Rei is
too weak to fight, Yuda has two of his men attack; they are
sliced to pieces.
Finally, Rei and Yuda fight. In the first clash, Yuda is cut
across his face; enraged that his beauty has been marred, he an-
grily explains the cause of their rivalry.
Flashback: Rei is demonstrating his style for fellow Nanto stu-
dents. Everyone is awed by the beauty of his technique. Yuda
runs off in humiliation. Insane with jealousy, he vows revenge.
The two resume their fight. As Rei gains the upper hand, Yuda's
men blow a hole in the village's dam, flooding the battle ground.
Since Rei's style is based on acrobatic techniques, he is unable
to maneuver, and Yuda lashes out with dozens of ranged attacks.
As Yuda prepares to deliver the final blow, Rei flips into the
air, pushing against the surface of the water with a special
technique. Landing in front of Yuda, he ends the battle by chop-
ping through Yuda's shoulder blades.
[Yuda's confession; Yuda dies]
Rei and Mamiya are reunited, but unfortunatly, Rei's time is up.
As his body starts to deteriorate, he tells her to abandon her
weapons, and seek a woman's happiness. To Ken, he urges him to
stay alive; "In this age, your Hokuto Shinken will be needed."
After saying his farewells, he enters a house, to await his
death.
[house is burnt as funeral pyre]
As Rei's friends watch the flames, Mamiya realizes that she can
no longer see the Shichousei. [explanation]
"Rei, man of Gi-sei, your legend will never fade!" proclaims Ken,
"Farewell."
With the death of Rei, the second season comes to an end.
