Story I

Hokuto no Ken Chapter
1: "Fist of the Northstar"
Kenshiro
Out of the wasteland
emerges a lone figure. A young man
dehydrated and and exhausted struggles into a run down village.
Suddenly a net springs up and he faints.
He is taken to a cell where a young boy is captive.
His name is Bat. The
jail-keeper is a young girl named Lynn. As
she attempts to give the new prisoner some water Bat grabs her and yells for the
new prisoner to get the keys. Instead
the man grabs his arm and it sends a pain into it.
He then asks the girl if she would get him somemore water, as she spilled
the cup from before. Bat curses the
new prisoner. Then he goes on to
explain that the village is repeatedly attacked because it has fresh water and
food. This is why they have created
a local militia group to defend it. Meanwhile
the girl returns and has brought food as well!
The young man introduces himself as Kenshiro (literally: Fourth son, as
we will understand later on). He
asks the girl's name but she cannot reply as she is mute explains Bat.
She saw her Parents killed and hasn't spoken since.
Kenshiro touches a pressure point on the back of her neck and explains
that if she truely wants to that now she will be able to speak.
Now the Elder has a
group of men take Ken out so he may question him. They tear his shirt open to find seven scars in the shape of
the big dipper on his chest. The
Elder mentions it is a bad omen, that the stars are unlucky and signal death.
Outside a commotion
ensues and word comes that Zeed's band has come. A man calls for Lynn to help, and fearing what will happen
she tosses the keys to the cell to Ken. She
realizes she is going to die, explains Bat.
Zeed's men have no mercy, even for women and children.
Kenshiro's face
darkens and he bends open the bars like they were nothing.
Ken rushes out with Bat in Tow. Outside
there is a scene of carnage and Zeed is holding Lynn in his massive hand,
threatening to tear off her head if they do not surrender.
She sees kenshiro approaching and something snaps and she screams for
Kenshiro to stay away and save himself. Kenshiro,
enraged, approaches and a group of Zeed's men try to stop him. He inflicts seemingly insignificant blows to them, then flips
past them. As they turn to persue,
their heads explode and Zeed realizes this is the man that killed his scouts.
Kenshiro becomes
enraged and inflicts a massive flurry of punches and jabs.
"Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken"
(Hundred Crack Fist)
is the technique. Zeed drops to the
ground and Kenshiro catches Lynn. As
Zeed gets up and prepares to kill Kenshiro, Kenshiro informs him "Omae wa mou shinde
Iru" (You're Already Dead). Zeed
then blows apart. The elder realizes
this is the sacred martial art "Hokuto Shinken" (North Star God Fist)
an ancient war art whispered to have come from ancient china and be the ultimate
assassination technique.
As Ken and Bat are
leaving, Lynn looks on with sad eyes. Kenshiro
is the only one to ever show her kindness.
The Elder tells her it is better this way since the Dipper stars are said
to be unfortunate and the inheritor of Hokuto Shinken is followed by death and
Misfortune.
Ken and Bat are
wandering the wasteland when they spot a band chasing a group of farmers.
An old man carrying rice seed pleads to be let go and promises food in
exchange. Ken flips into the action
andTells the leader to let the leader to let hom go.
The leader is the king of spades. Kenshiro
explains Hokuto Shinken is only passed from father down to one son. Against Fist of the Northstar a crossbow is nothing but an
arrow standing motionless. Spade
shoots and Ken easily dodges by cocking his head.
He explains he will take Spade's left eye if he misses again.
Spade shoots again and Ken catches it between his forefingers.
He tosses it back into Spades eye and gathers up the old man. The old man, misumi, explains that this rice will be used to
grow more and provide food for the future.
Ken takes him back and leaves proptly despite Bat's protest.
As they leave, a gang of Bikes and Vehicles rushes past and Spade Grins
wildly at Ken as he passes by. Ken
rushes back but too late to save misumi. Misumi
grasps the rice seed and dies.
Kenshiro's shirt
tears apart as his muscles flex and anger overcomes him. From each side ken's arms arebound by chains held by txo
massive men. Spade tosses an axe at
Ken and ken kicks it at one of the men, cleanly popping off his head.
He then tosses the chain around the other man and begins reeling him in
like a fish. He uses a force wave
to split the stong man's face in half.
Spade comes at Ken
with a pair of axes. Ken playfully
breaks his nose and as Spade comes at him again he catches his two arms and
breaks them by bendig backward. Ken
then inserts his two thumbs in Spade's temples and informs him this technique is
called "Hokuto Zankai Ken" (Fist of Remorse).
After the thumbs are removed the victim will feel remorse for the three
seconds before he dies. Ken removes his fingers and as Spade pleads for his life he
splits in two. Ken and Bat are
standing by Misumi's grave and Kenshiro scatters the seed around it.
Bat mentions it can't grow in such a wasteland and Ken replies it will
grow...
