I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Here is the current time and temperature in Saskatoon. |
December, 2011Dear Family and Friends, Warmest holiday wishes to all of you. This was definitely a year of change for most of the family. Our year started off on a high note when Stacey and Justin returned from their Mexican vacation and announced their engagement. The wedding is not until July, 2013, so lots of time for planning. Stacey has two new jobs this year after she was laid off from Laser Impressions just before Christmas last year. She found part time employment at Fire and Ice Creations. Her boss makes ice sculptures for different events and is now starting to make fruit creations. Her other job is selling bed linens at Georgia Mills. Justin is still working at Custom Labels. They were busy this fall renovating their main bathroom with help from Justin’s dad. Our next surprise was Darcy and Neil’s decision to move back to Saskatoon. Darcy arrived the beginning of February. She found temporary work at the Cargill plant near Clavet. That meant driving on Saskatchewan highways in the middle of a blizzard - something she has not done in ten years. She found a city job in June at a financial planners office. Neil stayed in Toronto to finish a course and arrived the end of April. They spent two months living with us before finding an apartment on Clarence Ave. Neil is currently taking a course with the thought of starting his own copy editing business. Peter has found contract work with Tata Technologies. Oddly enough, the contract work is with CNH, his old employer. He will finish the end of January, but with the possibility of more to come. We had a week vacation/conference in Reno, NV in August. Had a one day bus tour of Lake Tahoe and Virginia City. It was in the mid 90's each day, but low humidity and always a slight breeze. The city hosted their annual “Hot August Nights”. Every night the old cars would “cruise” and one night we got to watch them behind our hotel. Those Americans sure do love their cars! Erin continues to work part time at the library. Her world may change in the next year or so as Peter and I are considering selling the house (after 25 years here) and buying a condo. I started working part time at First Lady Wigs, located inside the Bay at Midtown Plaza, two or three days per week. I never realized how much there is to know in the wonderful world of wigs. Brad and Nicolle are doing well in St. Catharines. They are going to Newfoundland again for a week just after the new year to visit her mom and grandma. Best wishes for the holidays and a healthy and happy New Year! Love, Donna, Peter and Erin
