How To Make A Website First you need to find an internet service provider to host your page. In most cases you can get a webspace to host your pages from your current internet service provider. Most ISP's offer some free webspace as part of the package that you pay for each month. It doesn't matter it you have dial-up access or cable or dsl they are generally all the same. The only thing you can't do with the "free" pages is have your own dot com name. Generally it is the ISP's name / yourname. Most of the free webspaces have 5mb or smaller total website limitations. This is the actual space occupied on their server that your website uses. If you don't have too many hi resolution pictures on your site you won't be using very much. As an example our www.ferlowbrothers.com company website is around 11mb in total size. As you can see this is a fairly big site so even something 1/2 that size would be large. Most people don't have all that many pages on their personal sites. If you use text only and hardly any images your site will be even smaller and 5mb will go a long way. Ask your ISP for details on how to set up your free space and how to upload your webpages if it is using Frontpage or some other web design software. I use Microsoft Frontpage2000. I started with Frontpage98 when it came out. Frontpage is a very reasonably priced software package and I recommend it to even beginners. You may need some help to publish your designed website but as far as the design goes if you can create a colourful document in Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Pagemaker then you too can design and publish your own website. Easily add links, text, buttons, colours, backgrounds, your own pictures. Frontpage lets you change a page or some text on your site within a couple minutes, even with a dial-up connection. You do need to verify that your internet service provider has Frontpage extensions on their webserver, otherwise many of Frontpage's features will not function correctly. You can probably try a trial-version of Frontpage to see if it will work for you. Browse the web and see. There are many Frontpage tutorial sites on the web. Microsoft's Frontpage site is also excellent for beginner to expert tips. If you want to see our company website click here. Here's a website I'm currently developing: You can design websites/webpages with many different software packages. The bottom line however is that many users who have very slow dial-up connections cannot download huge flashplayer plug-ins. Keep your site design straight-forward and relatively simple or offer your viewers the choice of flash and html site programming. Those without flash plug-ins or other required plug-ins will not even be able to see one item off your webpage and they will ultimately browse your competition's website so use your common sense.
