July 26, 2002 (revised Sept. 21, 02) I just received some amplifiers made by ZED Audio (Steven Mantz) - US Acoustics. These are really well-made units. Quality class A/B design with very clean sound. You get a lot of bang-for-the-buck with these amplifiers so grab some from ZED while you can! This is the line of amps previous to their USX----D line. Here's the USX2080 (2x80wrms) which will take care of my front speakers:
Here's the USX2150 (2x150wrms) going into a friend of mine's VW Golf TDI for subwoofer duty:
Here's the USX1000F replacing my Rodek2150i for subwoofer duty, this thing is BIG:
Here's a comparison of the USX2080 next to it: The USX1000F has 4 gauge allen key power terminals, very nice. www.usacoustics.com (they finally updated their website) It produces 2x400wrms into 4 ohms stereo, 2x500wrms into 2 ohms stereo, or 1x1000wrms into 4 ohms mono. I just hooked it up and my single 12 inch Audiobahn Alum12 subwoofer can't handle it. Looks like I'll be shopping for a new subwoofer in the future. :-) The USX----F line of amplifiers is similar in quality to Autotek, Hifonics, Rodek but made in the USA unlike many of the competitors. I'm not sure about where their new series is made. :-/ Unfortunately it looks like my F150's 130A alternator won't have enough juice to power the 1000F at full-tilt. A copy of my owner's manual is posted, click the link above and left. |
